It started on October 3rd, the Spokane Mormon.org campaign launch!! I keep on checking to see if my profile is posted and as of yet it isn't. I am so excited to have more public awareness of the Mormon faith. I love to watch the videos of other Mormon's and see what they say. I challenge you to watch some of them. We are normal everyday people doing things to help others.

We hope it is a great spring, we have been busy with our lives. Jonathan is a wrestler and he loves it. He has taken the bronze at the last few tournaments. It has been great. We love life and all the kids are doing great.

Trying a new thing

Get on the Hallelujah Diet it is great sign up and it gives you 2 different 60 day challenges. It is amazing how you feel. The freshly juiced carrot juice is so yummy. I am in combination with that doing T-tapp, I love that exercise regime and I do Step it to the max cardio and on the other day I do Basic Workout Plus and 30 minutes of rebounding.

I feel great. I am doing good. So far the kids are doing great on their personal challenges to stay off sugar and junk for 1 year. Jonathan passed the acid test of going to a birthday party and turning down cake and ice cream. The mom's were so proud of him and they had to call and tell me.

It is going good, we can eat healthy and have it taste so yummy. I am trying to find a good excaliber food dehydrator, a friend is letting me borrow one and I want one of my own.

Have a healthy day, and eat your greens. I also learned on the Hallelujah Diet that you can throw in celery to your green smoothie. I did that this morning and yummy. I love celery!!

Summer!!

School ended on June 18th on the 21st we were up at Girls Camp, I called it Plan B camp as everything we were planning on doing had to be severely altered due to the rain. We were going to hike up Mt Spokane and that didn't happen as it was so cold and rainy. We spent the first day at the church doing projects.

Tuesday the 22nd was our 9th anniversary and as usual I was at Girls Camp which is a great place to be. We hiked up Indian Painted Rock that day and had a great time. We got the tents up and got the girls out of the cabins for that night. It was a great bonding experience in the cabins as we are combining 3 wards with the ward changes. We also had a great dutch oven cook off and a professional dutch ovenist came and cooked for us and did a demo. It was good and yummy!! Thanks Deb!!

Wednesday we did Team Building and then we went on the lake, Bro Smarts boat didn't work so we used the Jamison's so not everyone was able to go out but Lake Day is in August. It was a great Ward Camp.

Then we got home to go to a family Reunion up in Deer Park. It was great and I was glad to be at home in my own bed after all of that.

Today started Cub Scout Day Camp and then we have the Trek and Courtney's wedding. I am getting so excited to go to Utah it has been 10 years since I was in Utah and Jonathan has never been to that state yet. It will be a nice weekend trip!!

We have been painting the upstairs and adding color into our lives. It looks really good. I am so happy to have things almost done and put back together. I will update you when I have them all done and some pictures to show, I am going to choose new curtains for the upstairs. Any great idea's.

We are planning a wedding. Any one have great and fabulous ideas for a great wedding reception in the hot month of August.

I was at a health fair yesterday and the food table was so fabulous the layers and they just used pans to elevate the food on different levels. I took a picture on my phone and texted it to Courtney and I wish I had my other camera to show you. The veggies and fruits were very elegant and that is what I would like to do at her reception.

Idea's are always welcome!!!

I am excited, I love to plan things and this will be a fun party for Courtney and Cameron.

Courtney and Cameron are getting married. July 31st 11:00 A.M. In the Salt Lake Temple. He asked her officially and she said yes. We went to Bowl and Pitcher and they went rock climbing, and on top of the hill he got down and did the bended knee proposal. We are so excited and so are they. It is going to be great. We celebrated it with a steak dinner.

We are all about having good times, at the Alder Hacienda. We are enjoying our time here with Courtney and her boyfriend Cameron. We had a Great Spring Break, and now we are enjoying a nice spring season. For Conference weekend we went to Lewiston/Clarkston to see my sisters and my mom came to see us too.

Things are going well and we are so happy. I have lots of pictures to post and I will. Meanwhile stay happy as my sis in law Waz always says to me.

Just in case you were wondering, we are a wee bit attached to this little critter. We love him so much and he has caused us so much additional joy and happiness to our lives. It has been fun. He wakes me up 2 times at night to take him out and go potty and today--yuck!! Jeremy needs to clean up after him. I take the night shift and he needs to clean the do do.

He has been so much fun and we love him. We can't wait until Courtney can meet him. He will be much bigger next month when she gets the pleasure to meet him for the first time.

Kibius & Kale

When we got Kibius he was on a bad diet, he was eating bad dog food. Known to the Veternarians as a the typical SAD diet Standard American Diet of Junk food. Well lately he has been going a lot and I was wondering if he was cleansing or what since we were feeding him good and introducing fruits and vegetables into his daily diet slowly. Well yesterday I took him out to the snow and realized that he always has to eat some Kale daily on his potty trips and I thought that is why. I think he is ready now for the green smoothies, don't you?

He is so cute as he plays and gets more playful daily and making such great progresses. It has been a fun week as we have had him.

The boys love giving him a bath, he cleans up really good. He has been fun for Jonathan as Jonathan loves telling him what to do and giving him commands and teaching him tricks. Paul is teaching him that he is Alpha and he needs to obey.

Ahh..The fun we are having with a little puppy.

I know, we got a dog. A St Bernard Puppy. I think we are all smitten. He is so cute. His name by default is Kibius as we (the boys and dad) thought Goliath was a fabulous name and Jonathan kept on saying Kibius. We will definately be loving this dog. He is so cute. He had a bath last night with Jeremy and Jonathan and he got brushed and is mighty cute. We are so happy. We have a puppy. He walked Jonathan to the bus stop this morning and was cute with all of the kids. I think this will be a fun family dog for the next many years. He will be loved and walked daily and fed a good vegetarian diet and eat very healthy. Maybe he will learn to love the green smoothies also. Will keep you posted on that.

Life is good, we just got our rewards check from Costco, I love the Executive Membership where you get 2% back on your purchases. It is a beautiful thing. We have been really busy also going through our house and de - cluttering it room by room, and getting things ready for our annual spring yard sale. It has been lovely. Life is good and we are all doing well.

WOW!!! That is all I can say about this lovely spring like weather we are having in January. I am not complaining I am loving this. I am excited to start gardening and I want to get more fruit trees and bushes for lots of fun in Canning Season.

Courtney Goes To BYU-Idaho

Our trip began New Years Day at noon, to arrive in Rexburg Idaho about 12:00 AM Mountain time, with stops in Spokane, Missoula, and the very snowy mountain passes, stops to stretch, gas up.

We stayed with Paul's Aunt and Uncle Kay & Penny Bybee. On Saturday we went to Russel & Melinda's to Unload Courtneys stuff. We were there about an hour then Paul, Russel, Cameron, Courtney, and Jonathan went to go rent books. Russel said he was going to look into renting books so they did. They dropped Courtney off to go to Orientation. In the mean time Reid and Naomi came up from Utah to see us so Paul & I and Reid and Naomi went to Idaho Falls to do some more errands and then to come back to Russel's house to play games and to hang out.

Sunday we left stopping by to see Grandma Bybee, and then back on the road home. It was a great trip. Courtney is going to do great in School and we are so excited for her. If you would like to keep in touch with her:

Too Much Snow!!!

It wasn't fun last year!!! When you say to the kids, let me know if you go outside so if I don't see you in a few minutes to come looking for you with a shovel and dig you out. True story and Miranda didn't think that was too funny. Too much snow to go sledding and too much fun to have fun.

But we were all together and that made it so much fun. If it stays warm like it has been it will be wonderful. I wouldn't recommend having Christmas early, it was just too weird. I hope everyone has a great Christmas and we will also and have a bunch of fun.

All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth!!!

Continue Life as a Healthy Happy 6 Year Old

I went to Jonathan's School and we made Gingerbread houses. It was great fun. The kids were so fun to be with.
Jonathan went to his 6 week eye appt, the doctor said he did great and he can continue life as a Healthy Happy 6 year old. He followed the treatment plan and is doing great. The stitches are mostly dissolved and the ones by his eye that are bugging me are just going to fall off. Jonathan asked Dr. Ranson if he could then wrestle and he said you sure can. I am so happy our boy can see. He has done his best ever in school the past few weeks since the eye shield has come off. He is doing really great.
He was getting a little crazy he had to wait 1 hour and 15 minutes for his appointment. The doctor was over booked and there was much to say about all of this in the waiting room so he was a little hyper when he finally got to go back into a room.
We are so thankful for the blessings of heaven, the doctor kept on saying that he did his eye perfectly. He warned us before the eye surgery that if it wasn't done right then we would need to go back and correct it right away, they took lots of measurements and at the hospital he told us he took out extra tissue so it wouldn't sag as he got older. Paul gave him a blessing before the surgery that the Doctor would do it perfectly. At his 2 week check up he said to me that a normal eye lid hangs at 1 mm and Jonathan's was hanging at 3 mm and then he took some measurements and said, I did it perfectly. It has been a blessing indeed.

First Snow UGH!!!

Today we heard the word that it was going to snow, so I bundled Jonathan all up to go to school. He still has the eye patch over his eye. The stitches aren't dissolved quite yet.

He wrote his name in the snow. It was a doozy only about 1 1/2 inches on the national weather radar and 9/10 of an inch at the airport. I don't like snow anyway. Courtney and I rode the bus home today. It was great.

Have a great winter season everyone, after getting home from the bus, we did a lot of organizing. Great fun.

Somewhere

Somewhere between Jonathan's surgery and Halloween was my Happy Birthday.(October 24) We went to Coeur D' Alene Idaho where Miranda had a volleyball game day. It was great. Then we went home and did some organizing and the evening we went to some friends house to work on projects.

I have noticed as I get older the "specialness" of a birthday kind of diminishes and you just do what you need to do. You celebrate the anniversary of your birth in different ways as you wanted to as a child.

I like to make the kids and Paul's birthdays like their own special holiday as I feel that it is. Eat your favorite meals, do your favorite things, have breakfast in bed, and my favorite is no chores. You actually get a break from doing the house hold daily chores.

Halloween came and went, the kids all looked so cute. Jonathan has his eye shield on still for the next 10 days. The doctor saw him on Monday and things looks great his eyes are doing good. 10 more days on the shield. Everyone said he should be a pirate however he wanted to be batman with an eye patch.

Courtney was cinderella, Miranda was a nurse and wore my scrubs, Jeremy appeared as himself. This year, I didn't dress up. Next year I am planning on being a witch. You know it I got some fun things for all of us for next year with the clearances.

Day 1& 2 Progression

Cameron and Jonathan, Cameron got smacked in the right cheek at school and he has a big shiner appearing on his cheek.

It is like cabin fever having to rest all the time. But we tell him that is how his eyes heal by resting and not doing much. He has complained about his eye hurting and that it really irritates him. We just put on lubricant and let it air out a bit then we put the eye patch back on to protect the sensitive tissues. It is quite the process. He is doing good and being a good trooper.

Jonathan's Eye Surgery

The Spokane Eye Clinic built a new Clinic and the top floor is the Surgery Center. We were able to have the surgery there rather than at the hospital. We Checked in today at 7:00 and it took forever for them to call us back. Finally they did and they took Jonathan's vital's.

It was fun I was able to go back into the OR room, I asked if I could watch the surgery but they said, NO. How rude, I would have loved to see what they did and how they did it. U-Tube was great but not as cool as being there would have been. I got to gown up and just be there for 5 minutes while they were putting him under. Then like clock work they ushered me out of the room.

He did really well, Dr Ranson said he took a lot of skin out so as he grows his eye lid will not fall down. He is doing great, and he needs a lot of rest and over the next few days his eyes will become more and more swollen. We are so excited that is now over and the healing has begun. 300 pounds of Apples

We had a great time picking these apples this weekend. And then we made some yummy applesauce, pie filling and some cider. We also had a great time listening to Conference, getting in 4 cord of wood and helping at Grandma's house while she was on a trip to Idaho. Funny enough she was on her way back through Kooskia spending some time with my mom and dad there.

This is Jonathan's favorite part squishing the apples to make the sauce. He does a great job and we all have a job to do to help out. He is so cute in his camo outfit and his camo glasses, he gets stopped everywhere we go with people asking if they are really prescription glasses to which we reply they are. (if interested in a great and cheap place to get glasses email me and I will let you know the secret my dad and Russel told us-they cost us 8 dollars--no kidding, we love it so much we have to tell everyone about it)

The jars tonight are still processing as I write and we have more than doubled what the picture shows. It is great, Courtney will have some to bring to college and we will have some to eat and to use in recipes to make them without the added fat.
AHHH...the tastes and smells of fall. Thanks kids for all the help in picking the apples the spontaneous apple fights and Miranda telling us that every apple she picked was So "Perfect" what joys.

Jonathan's Eye Surgery Day

Yesterday afternoon we got the call from the Spokane Eye Clinic and they said his surgery had to be postponed 4 Cancer Patients needed emergency eye surgery. So we did what we usually do on Thursdays, School, Tutoring and then we ended the day with some friends at their house and Jonathan loves to play with their dog Tank.

Surgery is now October 20. Life is good, Paul and I went and got a new dishwasher and a trash compactor this morning. We are going to listen to Conference this weekend, the boys are going to get firewood, while the girls and I can Applesauce. Then we are going to be doing a little bit of installing.

During the Priesthood session we are going to go to the Mall and get some of the clearance items from the back to school rush. We are going to have a wonderful time. I guess we need to be what Gerald Lund would say, wo be unto the flexible for they will never be bent out of shape.

So October 20th it is 4 days before my birthday and my boy will be able to see even more what a wonderful gift for a mom to have her child be able to see really well. I am so excited. I have been looking forward to this, and I would have to say I was the one really bummed. It was going to be oh so perfect, but life isn't supposed to be that way, at least not my life.

Life is good and I am glad that we are all healthy and strong. Courtney has been feeling a little under the weather today and has been resting. She will be better for the weekend.

YOU WERE REALLY LUCKY..on a recent trip to Lewiston for Alex's ordination I ran into my good Friend Paula in Lewiston, before they did some creative boundary changes she wasn't even in my sisters ward and now her parents are. She is Junior High Teacher now in Boise, Idaho. What a great gal and what fun we had going to girls camp as adult stake leaders together. She is a wonderful gal and it was good to re connect with her.

She is great and just as happy as she used to be. Overall we had a wonderful summer.

The end of the summer

I can't believe it is August 29th. School Starts on September 8th for us here in Washington and in Coeur d' Alene. Courtney will start in January at BYU-Idaho.

We have been so busy with Jonathan and his schooling, going to his tutors that we really haven't done anything fun this summer. But we have done what we have needed to do to help him and get him ready for first grade.

Now that his eyes are doing good, he is making great learning progress. He was happy to be able to see and read all the letters and numbers on the eye chart at his 3 month check up. He went to another surgeon on Wednesday and he did great there also. He is getting his eye lid surgery on October 1st. His reaction time is not as fast with a droopy eye lid, and we are going to get that fixed for him.

After 2 hours of testing, he did really great.

The city pools have all been remodeled and they just barely opened so I took Jonathan and Jeremy to the pools, they are called "aquatic centers" now they have water slides and it was a lot of fun. I had to go with them also to make a grandious debut. It was really fun.

Hardwood Floor, Funeral, Baptism, Stake Dance

We woke up at 5 yesterday morning to start laying more of the floor in our bedroom. We then had to quit at 9:30 to go to a funeral for a lady in our ward. This lady was so amazing, she was always serving others, she was a quiet server. It is no wonder why she died in the act of serving others. She was helping someone move and a car came traveling at speeds reported 80-100 miles an hour and crossed the line and hit her killing her on impact.

I loved the song choices, There is sunshine in my soul, Have I done any good. I just love the second verse, "there are chances to work all around just now, opportunities lie in our way, do not let them pass by saying sometime I'll try but go and do something today"

She died as she lived and that was serving others. She was a dear and she will be missed greatly. It was a wonderful service, after the service was a baloon releasing and she loved Potlucks so it was a potluck luncheon.

After that The boys went shooting with our friends from Seattle and the girls and I went to the mall and perused around for a bit.

We then had a baptism of an 8 year old, he is my new scout and then we had a parking lot dance at the West Stake, but it was rainy and cold it was a cultural hall dance. It was so fun. There was a girl there that was so sad and lonely. I watched her all night, no one asked her to dance and no one talked to her. Then she left and I walked the halls and looked in the classrooms for over an hour looking for her. I was so sad for her that she came to a dance an NO ONE talked to her.

What we've been up to

I have been in Spokane now for 8 years 1 month and 6 days this time, I lived in the Valley before my mission and left from there. After we were married Grandma and Grandpa Alder took Courtney 10, Jeremy 5 and Miranda 4 to Bowl and Pitcher.

I have wanted to go ever since. July 20-21-22 Paul and Jeremy were up at Camp Grizzley for Scout Camp and Miranda, Courtney and Jonathan and I went there. It was so much fun. Jonathan had fun riding his bike up and down the hills, we were able to climb the hills, they were fun. It was a very easy climb. It was just a fun time. We went on Tuesday night and had so much fun we went again on Wednesday night. It was great.

Come to Spokane and come to Bowl and Pitcher with us, it is great. It has a great swinging bridge and it is so much fun.

Two Grandpa's

When Jonathan was two his Grandpa Darryl Paul Alder passed away. Since then he has told people he has 2 grandpas one in heaven with Jesus and one in Kooskia with Goats.

We went to Kooskia for Emilee's Baptism it was great, Shauna, Leo, Weston, Russel, Tanner and now Emilee were all baptized in the same font. It was pretty cool.
